Vulnerable , bear the brunt.

Recently prevalent and globally widespread pestilence's repercussions and ramifications are multifaceted and multidimensional. The weak, downtrodden and vulnerable are bearing the brunt of nosedived economy , a certain section of Societies are on the brink of poverty and breakdown. The pandemic has thrown up several social issues, gender-related like gender-justice. One such issue is a rapid surge in domestic violence, Women are more vulnerable when they are literally trapped in their homes, and kept away from people who could help them or when they have least interaction with outsiders. In India where women are already in a pitiable condition, such events can exacerbate their conditions. When resources and opportunities are limited for them , it will take too much time for bridging the gap and in achieving the target of five trillion economies. Usually ,they are economically disempowerd and only solution for this is to make them economically independent. In current situation ,they are at the high risk of contacting and contracting the virus while taking care of quarantined and isolated family members.

China saw a tripling in domestic violence cases compared to the previous year on account of the lockdown then in place, according to social activists. For women in India, with the law and order machinery already overstretched and in strained condition, it is unlikely that domestic violence will be a focus at the moment for the government authorities. Gender-based violence leads to gender disparity and can create multiple problems. Domestic violence is a blot on our so-called civilised society which mete out them injustices with impunity. The prolonged economic deprivation and fear of job losses often tend to create frustrations among male partners which stoke domestic violence. In India where the economy was already in a worse state and where women labour participate ratio drastically changed in negative, in this grim situation it is the need of the hour to address such issues as soon as possible. Kerala, now a model state in its handling of the virus, has had a past history of domestic abuse brought on by unemployment and alcoholism, despite its other enviable social indicators. We can learn from these exemplary events and can create a harmonised society.
