Mental trauma

Over two weeks of the lock-down and its further continuation brought on by the Covid pandemic have struck people with consternation due to painfully long period of isolation ,quarantine, social distancing and kith and kins of deceased persons who were lone breadwinners of the housholds.Social distancing seems to be hitting people even more than the scare of the deadly virus. People are getting highly restive and agitated in spite of social media connectivity and due to rampant surge in their uses.Cases of domestic violence have more than doubled in the country during the lockdown period leading vulnerable more prone to disaster. We need to contain the psychological damage by diverting maximum resources towards strengthening our healthcare system along with great reformation in subsidiaries.

The government is currently all caught up in dealing with the imminent threat of global and dreaded health crisis in the form of pestilence, which has disrupted daily life and toppled the world economy drastically. It will soon be imperative to consider to take preemptive and proactive measures about the more long-term effects of the pan-demic and a long-drawn lockdown.Humans have evolved to be social creatures as Aristotle said that humans are social animals and are wired to live in interactive groups.Being isolated and sudden, accidental social confinement from family, friends and colleagues can be unbalancing and traumatic for most people and can result in short or even long-term social, mental, psychological and physical health problems among them.

An increase in levels of frustration, irritation, anxiety, aggression, depression, forgetfulness, panic attacks, paranoia and hallucinations are possible psychological effects of isolation and in some emerging cases of social stigmatisation.Mental conditions may be precipitated for those with underlying preexisting susceptibilities and also show up in many others without any precondition.A heartfelt, cordial and Personal relationships help us cope with stress and many other psychological problems, and if we lose this outlet for letting off steam, it results in a huge emotional void which, for an average person, is difficult to deal with. Just a few days of isolation can cause increased levels of mental trauma that could increase the cases of perceptible suicidal attemp.

Government should be prepared for these menacing situations looming large on the countrymen and should make robust and flexible Policies for menkind so that everyone could do their best in this battle against invisible adversary with the least harm.
