Quantum Computing

Quantum computing is based on 'Quantum theory' which explains the nature and behavior of energy and matter on the quantum (atomic and subatomic) level. Development of a quantum computer would leapfrog further development in research.Quantum Computers Works on the probability of an object's state before it is measured - instead of just 1s or 0s - which means they have the potential to process exponentially more data compared to classical computers.Qubits are made using physical systems, such as the spin of an electron or the orientation of a photon. These systems can be in many different arrangements all at once, a property known as quantum superposition.Qubits can also be inextricably linked together using a phenomenon called 'quantum entanglement'

Shortly after New Year celebrations the whole world grappled with the unknown pestilence. Scientists and researchers are busy to find the vaccine at this time,IBM's Summit was held to display world's fastest and most powerful supercomputer to do simulations and computations in search of finding molecules to fight the virus. The latest update says the Summit has been able to identify 77 promising molecules that researchers can use in trials, and this achievement happened
only within 48 hours, traditionally it would take months. In molecular research quantum computing has done marvellous job.In this time of crisis scientists can harness the power of quantum computing which can boost near future technological advancements, pervading the universe. In real terms quantum computing has given a glimmer of hope in this global health crisis.

It  can accelerate the production of  vaccines and other therapy in an unprecedented way.Faster research works are halted due to limited computing capacity, it requires writing codes to harness the computing capacity of classical computers. It  is  no  secret  that  classical computing power is plateauing and has reached to its saturation, till we have scalable artificial intelligence AI machine learning ML So, what we need today is more computing power and, given that we have already reached the peak of classical computing, the only solution probably  is  quantum  computing. Not  just  vaccines, quantum computing can accelerate many various innovations, such as hyper-individualized  medicines,  3-D  printed  organs, search engines etc.All innovations currently constrained by the size of transistors used in classical computing chips can be unleashed through quantum computing.

Globally, too, countries and organizations are rushing to develop this technology and have already invested enormous amount of capital towards its research and development work. These are positive signs. Unless we overcome classical computing  limits, we  will  hurtle towards the modern  catastrophe of frequent pandemics,  uncontrollable climate change,water-scarcity,disappearing coastlines  due  to  oozing of icebergs in Antarctic,plastic-poisoned  water  tables, and lifestyle related diseases. As we know that unprecedented time demands unprecedented efforts. Historically, unprecedented crises have always created more innovations than routine challenges or systematic investments.Coincidentally, current times pose similar opportunities in disguise. While the last decade has given us 10x increase in quantum computing,  the  next quantum leap is expected from a vicious cycle of climate or health-related catastrophes covid-19 could be one.Quantum supremacy is must for quantum leap in every aspect of life.
