On Friday, April 3, PM made unpredictable remark to boost the morale of public psyche in the ongoing battle against COVID19, Mr. Modi asked them to light up candles, diyas(lamps), torchlights and mobile flashlights for 9 minutes at 9 p.m. this Sunday. Immediately after his address, some lackey citizens outreach portal of the 'Government of India' shared a video explaining the ‘science’ behind the PM's invocation as it was based on the yogic principle of 'Collective Consciousness',they said by this everybody will be least vulnerable to the damages caused by Coronavirus and will help in chipping away at the agony afflicted by the dreaded and deadly covid-19 ,this they said, was based on ‘quantum principle’ ,this event is an outright lampoon on our scientific temper.This shows how deeply ingrained pseudoscience is instilled in the hearts of Indian populace and it's like an indelible mark on citizen's cerebrum, it's like marginalisation of scientific temper, wonderful scientif achievements and undermining of our great scientists like Nobel laureate Addison, Einstein, C. V Raman etc.
During this global crisis our leaders are supposed to make responsible and authentic remarks because ,in this battle where the antagonist is microscopic science has no substitute so we should comply with the only scientific approach, it is an indispensable armour.Such type of remark can lead to misinformation amongst the public and can cause havoc in the form of rumer-mongering.
Many times our PM made a claim by linking life science to lndian mythology, in his speech he said that Karna( a 'warrior in epic Mahabharata') was born because of State of the art 'stem cells' technology and said World's first surgery was performed on the head of Lord Ganesha by establishing an elephant's head on his torso. Some other lawmakers also made untenable claims to peddle pseudoscience by saying that 'theory of evolution ' was completely incorrect as no one has seen ever a monkey converting in the form of a human being.
Nothing but the acceptance of this myth masquerading as science explains the outrageous interpretation of PM's call to thank the nation's essential service providers, bell ringing and banging of metal thalis.This is like we are walking on a tightrope condition, people want more than banging cymbal and gong in this time of crisis.
